{"id":203,"date":"2017-03-27T14:04:16","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T13:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/inmunologia.webs.uvigo.es\/?page_id=203"},"modified":"2017-08-18T09:27:02","modified_gmt":"2017-08-18T08:27:02","slug":"vaccines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/inmunologia.webs9.uvigo.es\/?page_id=203","title":{"rendered":"Vaccines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In our group we have worked on different projects for the development of new vaccines in order to <b>characterize the immune response<\/b> produced by them and help to identify new vaccine candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Our work has been performed in collaboration with other groups with great expertise in the production of different formulations where we test the immunological effects of the prototypes both <em>in vitro<\/em> and <em>in vivo.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We have worked on the design of vaccines aimed to treat or prevent different diseases such as Tuberculosis, Type I Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Urine Tract Infection by <em>E. coli<\/em>. Our efforts in the vaccine design were focused on comparing different formulations, vaccine doses and administration routes (intranasal, intramuscular, subcutaneous, etc.) to obtain the best protection possible.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the prototypes tested in our group are <b>Nanovaccines<\/b> based on nanotechnology (Nanomedicine research line), where we also have performed different nanotoxicity studies to study the potential harm this prototypes may have on the biological systems.<\/p>\n<p>We also collaborate with different groups to determine\u00a0novel peptide candidates for further design and development of new <b>peptide-based vaccines<\/b> for one of the most frequent causes of food allergies: fish and their parasites.\u00a0To achieve this we are using new approaches like Advanced Proteomics and Systems Biology to characterize the fish and parasite allergens.<\/p>\n<h3>Projects in this research line:<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"jetpack-portfolio-shortcode
